Once the Seal is Broken…

GRAMMY viewing party

We had a little renegade GRAMMY® viewing party last night at our place. I could name some of the attendees, but of course I’d have to kill you. (But you might recognize some of them in the picture. And I can confirm that Timothy P. Green was among them.)

My MyFItnessPal app says I had five beers, which is strange, because I feel like I drank a gallon of ether this morning. Perhaps my tolerance is down what with this new diet and all. Sadly, I missed my 0600 wakeup today, which breaks a streak of 6 days.

ANYway… Just a few observations I’ve noticed:

    • Once the seal is broken, all bets are off. I managed to go all day on two protein shakes and an apple. I didn’t snack on any of the chips and munchies, and I didn’t indulge in an adult beverage until our esteemed guests had arrived. I waited for the grilled chicken wings, and nibbled on a couple of carrots strips. However, after a beer came some more beers. And with a few beers came…The Munchies. So at 2 a.m., as some of our little group were finishing solving all the world’s problems, I started making passes through the kitchen to grab handfuls of Skinny Pop. Without that first beer, I probably could have made it all night on grilled wings and celery.
    • My water weight fluctuation is major. Every morning after I’ve had some adult beverages, my weight is  down a good two or three pounds. I chalk it up to dehydration. Most of the “adult beverage” evenings also tend to occur after a long day’s work, where I’ve had more coffee and less water. Both caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, so it’s a triple whammy. According to the scale, I lost 3.3 pounds since yesterday’s weigh-in. Sadly, it’s not permanent weight loss…but I’ll take it.

[The graph is right but today’s weight is 225!]
    • Is the trend my friend? I’ve been working out in addition to the diet (with a break the last couple of days while I’m trying to crush the podcast with Glenn Schick), so maybe I’ve put on some lean mass to counteract losing some fat? The graph over the last few days looks like a zigzag funnel honing in on a plateau at 229 pounds! But today’s “dehydration bump” is lower than before…so can a much-anticipated downtick be coming my way? We shall see.

Speaking of podcasts…back to The Red Room for me! ¡Hasta pronto!
